First Time Homeowner Program 1136 Buffalo Road Rochester, NY 14624-1890 FAX (585) 529-9525 Phone 328-3228 x1319 Providence Housing Development Corporation has grant funds available for First Time Homebuyers. The Monroe County Homeowner Program is available to low- and moderate-income households who wish to purchase a home in Monroe County, outside the City of Rochester, the Town of Brighton and Village of East Rochester. Eligible households receive individual counseling and eight hours of pre-purchase homeowner education. To be eligible, households must meet income qualifications (80% or Area Median Income), be first time homebuyers, possess acceptable credit, and have at least $1500. Households may not be under contract to purchase a home at the time of their application for assistance. If credit is not acceptable, Providence staff can assist households with credit repair. Grant amounts vary but the majority of households receive $5,000. Grants do not need to be repaid as long as households remain in the home for five years. Monroe County grants may be combined with other grants such as SONYMA closing cost grants or First Home Club matched savings grants currently available through local area banks. Interested?
